A Nice Bit of Consistency from Glenn Beck

Hello Freedomphiles!  You know, I have a love/hate relationship with that overwrought, hand-wringing crybaby Glenn Beck.  I like him because he has more libertarians on his show than probably any other host.  I like him because he loves history and takes on American Idols like that asshat Woodrow Wilson.  I like him because unlike Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, he's actually funny.

What I don't like about him is that he calls himself a libertarian sometimes, and is giving his listeners the wrong idea about what a libertarian is.  Like Ron Paul, I am also weary of his penchant for falling prey to conspiracy theories.  He is a "National Greatness" conservative who weeps over Jesus and America like it is some kind of tent revival.  And "National Greatness" is just one step away from "Nationalism," which has driven more tyranny and oppression than any other secular idea.

Mostly, though, I think he's an alright guy, and gets a bad rap from most people.  I think he tries to be as fair-minded as he can, and I have a good example of that.  Do you remember the Freedom File I wrote back in April entitled The Rise of Citizen Journalism (or NAZIs Show Up in the Strangest Places)?

In it, I talked about Adam Sharp, a rising star in citizen journalism, who confronted with a camera politicians and public figures, holding their feet to the fire and asking them to explain their positions and how they jive with the Constitution.  He also had taken it upon himself to go to Tea Party rallies and call out racists, ridiculing them into leaving.  I posted a video of one such occurance.

Well, it looks like Center for American Progress saw the same video, and instead of lauding the Tea Party for following the racist mouth-breather around ridiculing him, simply edited out all of that and just presented that man's racist rants as proof the Tea Party is the modern American incarnation of National Front.

And Beck called them out:

Good stuff.  Now, you might be saying, "Yeah, of course he's gonna stand up for white conservatives when they are being railroaded.  What I'd like to see is him defending a black liberal with the same gusto."

Okay:

Hat tip to JohnDenny.

Rick, if it makes you feel better, I have heard Beck self-describe as not a "true" Libertarian. Don't know what that means, but I guess the proof is in his content.

BTW...Imo, his radio show 10 X better than the TV show (Which I enjoy too)

Totally agree that the radio show is better than the TV show. It's still funny. I kinda miss the old Beck, though, when it was mostly comedy with a smattering of politics.

I guess you gotta know where your bread is buttered, though.
